Born in Alabama (by the grace of God - 17 national championships - just sayin') and raised in central Florida, I attended Edgewater High School graduating in 1971.  I then attended Oral Roberts University where I took a degree in Sociology.  I also married in 1974. I worked for the Dean's office for three years in Student Affairs and then moved to New England to attend seminary at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, graduating with an MDiv in 1985.  I returned to ORU to oversee the Student Life program for graduate and married students for three years, before returning to central Florida in 1988. In 1989 I began serving as pastor at Cornerstone Community Church.

Crystal and I raised our four sons in Winter Garden, where I gave leadership to the West Orange Ministerial Association. I have spent my career being active in community affairs and coaching my boys (and many others) in football and baseball. I have been on the boards of the Roper YMCA, the West Orange High School Foundation, West Orange High School Quarterback Club, founding member of the West Orange Habitat for Humanity chapter, initiated West Orange Daily Bread Program, volunteer chaplain at Health Central, past member of the City of Ocoee Police Chaplaincy, past member of the City of Ocoee's Reconciliation Task Force, Past President of the Christian Service Center board, past Chairman of the West Orange Health Alliance.

In 2000 I helped Crystal found Hope Charter School.  I later came on board as a teacher at Legacy High School and have served as a coach of its football team.
