Parent Volunteering & Community Service
Volunteer Options for Parents
There are many opportunities throughout the school year for parents to become involved at Hope and Legacy. Every time you volunteer your time, we want to be able to record it toward the 20 hours each family is asked to give. Please complete a Parent Volunteer Form and turn it in to the office or at the monthly parent meetings. There are a few things that do not count toward volunteer hours, i.e. parent meetings, having lunch with your child, field trips or any activity where you supervise only your child, etc. If you transport and help supervise other children, that does count as a volunteer activity. Also, if you make a purchase through a fund-raising activity, that does not count toward volunteer hours. However, if you help in preparing for the fundraiser or work at the fundraiser, that time can be counted toward your volunteer hours. Volunteer opportunities will be discussed in the newsletters, at parent meetings, and email blasts will be sent out periodically as opportunities become available.
In relation to supplies, the student supplies requested at the beginning of the school year and the general school supplies requested of each class during their assigned month do not count toward volunteer time. However, additional supplies or donations to the classrooms do count at 1 hour for each $10.00 value.
Parent hour opportunities are updated and posted monthly on our homepage under announcements/news.
