Science Dept. needs COWS! You can help.

We have been given an opportunity to enhance our Agriscience program by bringing some heifers to our farm. In order to bring them to our property, we must fix  the fencing (replace a lot of it) to keep the cows in the pasture. Crown Point Farms is donating the heifer that is pictured, but cows are very social creatures and we have to provide her with friends; otherwise, she will jump the fence looking for friends. We do have some leads on 2 possible donations, but in case those leads fall through we will have to purchase them.

This Saturday, September 17th at 7AM, we will be continuing our work on upgrading the fencing. You are welcome to come help. Just let Mr. Hill know that you are coming. We are limited on the number of people that we can supervise effectively. The fence must be put in correctly or the cows will just push it over. You will be working with barbed wire and brush; so jeans and gloves are recommended. Make sure you bring water and lunch.

If you are not able to help this Saturday that is ok, we understand, plus we can't have everyone come. Once we get the fencing up and the cows in place, we will have an "Open House" for everyone to stop by and see the cows. Once we get a path from the Legacy side to the farm, the Hope classes will be able to take Field Trips to the fence line and feed the cows apples or oranges. Also, would you consider giving to help offset the cost of buying the heifers (in case the donations don't come through), the fencing, the winter feed, the medical care, etc. If every family in the school gave just $10, we would raise about $5000.

Thank you.
