7th and 8th Grade Leadership
(Writing with Miss Lawson)

In this class, we learn how to improve the skills needed in written expression. We work on the best ways to structure our writing for various types of essays. The students need to be prepared to write argumentative and informational types of essays for the FSA in the spring. Since the English and Language Arts portion of the FSA asks the students to read various texts, then respond to a question through their essay, we also work on reading various texts and responding to them. Other skills we also work on are, how to find and cite evidence from a text, and how to make sure an essay is compliant with MLA formatting standards.
