My Life in a Nutshell

I graduated from a small high school in Milton, Florida named after the first principal, T.R. Jackson. Later I attended Washington Cosmetology School in Pensacola immediately following high school. That is where I met the love of my life and we were married two years later. Since he was in the military, we made Orlando our home and we raised one son and a foster daughter who now have children of their own.

During my life, I have worked in two hospitals, a restaurant, a gas utility company, an electric utility company and at Hope Charter School.  I earned both my BA and my MAT at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.  I came to work at Hope as my first teaching job and I have never experienced a better work environment.  Also, I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of fostering and teaching children the skills they will need for life. Whether here at Hope or in another venue, working with kids is a calling that I accept with fear and trepidation and yet with excitement and awe.  Teachers are called to a higher order of accountability and flexibility.  They experience change on an annually, bi-annually, monthly, weekly, daily and hourly basis.  One thing that has been a constant in my life is change.

Change can come in many forms in our lives. It might come forcefully like a tidal wave, or creep along incrementally like a glacier. It might come in the form of devastating tragedy, difficult choices, broken relationships, or even new opportunities.

But even though change is often difficult many times it’s also for the best. Accomplishing anything great in life requires a significant change that pushes us beyond our comfort zones.

I cannot be thankful enough for the path that I have walked; sometimes easy and sometimes very difficult.  God has been with me through it all.
