Welcome to my website!

Even though I started school in Los Angeles, I’m a southern boy born and bred. I did most of my growing up in my hometown, Edenton, a small, historical town in Eastern North Carolina. That’s where I learned to enjoy reading good books, riding my bike for miles and miles, swimming and catching crabs in the Albemarle Sound, playing baritone in the band, singing in the glee club, being a member of FTA (Future Teachers of America), and being very active in my local church. I also acquired a strong work ethic mowing lawns, delivering newspapers, jerking sodas and mopping floors at our local drugstore, and selling men’s shoes and clothes at a department store. After I graduated from high school, I trained for Christian ministry at Mid Atlantic Christian University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in 1975. I then did a year of graduate work at Eastern New Mexico University. In 1986, I finished my masters in education at Regent University, and in 2001, I completed a doctorate in ministry from Christian Life School of Theology. During the past forty-plus years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various ministerial and educational roles, including fourteen years as a school teacher and fifteen years as a school principal. I’ve also spent eighteen years in book publishing, overseeing the publication of hundreds of books. I’m married to Betsy Quain, the love of my life, and we have four children and eleven grandchildren. I’m truly blessed! I consider it an honor and a privilege to be part of Hope Charter School, one of the finest schools in our nation.
